For more than 25 years, the SonShine Nursery School has been a starting point for 3 and 4 year olds in their educational, social and spiritual lives. We offer a program which includes learning skills, simple and age-appropriate, as well as an opportunity to explore their own creativity. The 3 1/2 hour session includes playing, free as well as structured, singing, individual and group learning lessons, a Bible lesson, and of course, the all-important snack time. Field trips and special events will occasionally be scheduled, and parent/guardian participation is often welcome. Three year old children meet on Tuesdays and Thursdays, and four year olds Monday, Wednesdays and Fridays. All classes run from 8:00am through 11:30am. We follow the MSAD 40 school calendar in regards to vacations, holidays and snow days. We have a pre-registration time in May, allowing children and parents to come in and see the environment, meet the teachers, and to sign up for the next year. Sign ups can be made at any time, but we have a limit of 20 children per class. The reasonable rates are meant to meet only a portion of the cost to provide this service to the children of our local communities. The majority is subsidized by the Advent Christian Church. We are state licensed, inspected annually, and our teachers are certified by the State of Maine. For more information or for an application contact the church office at the number above.
